Below 35
Getting Started
Build the foundation first — formation, EIN, bank account, basic financials.
01
Business Readiness
Is your business legally registered, operating, and structured to receive funding? This dimension evaluates entity type, EIN, time in business, revenue, and whether your business is set up to be taken seriously by lenders and grant reviewers.
Max 25 pts
02
Financial Readiness
Do you have a dedicated business bank account, a credit score above 600, and a handle on your monthly numbers? Financial readiness signals that you can responsibly manage and report on the use of grant or loan funds — a core requirement for most funders.
Max 25 pts
03
Documents Uploaded
Are your key business documents ready to submit? This includes formation documents, EIN confirmation, business bank statements, financial statements, and a business plan. Capital OS tracks document completion through the Doc Vault in your Funding Sprint.
Max 20 pts
04
Certifications
Do you hold any business certifications — MBE, WBE, DBE, 8(a), HUBZone, SMBE, WOSB, or state-level designations? Certifications unlock entire categories of set-aside grants and contracts that are unavailable to uncertified businesses.
Max 15 pts
05
Funding Pipeline
Have you identified funding opportunities and actively started applications? This dimension rewards pipeline activity — grants started, submitted, and approved through your Capital OS Funding Sprint. It measures whether you are pursuing capital, not just thinking about it.

What Moves the Needle

The fastest improvements by dimension — most can be done in days, not months.

Business Readiness
Register your business and get your EIN
An LLC filing plus an EIN is the single biggest readiness signal. Most states process online in 24–48 hours. An EIN takes minutes at IRS.gov. Together they move the needle more than anything else on this dimension.
Business Readiness
Generate your first dollar of documented revenue
Even one invoice or sale moves you from "idea" to "operating business" in the eyes of funders. Document it. A business with 3+ months of revenue history qualifies for far more programs.
Financial Readiness
Open a dedicated business bank account
Separating business and personal finances is the top financial readiness signal. Most banks offer free business checking. Without it, you cannot document revenue or demonstrate stewardship to funders.
Financial Readiness
Check and begin building your business credit score
A credit score above 650 significantly improves loan eligibility. Pull your report, dispute errors, and add vendor tradelines. Capital OS can walk you through the exact sequence.
Documents Uploaded
Upload your core documents to your Doc Vault
Formation docs, EIN letter, 3 months of bank statements, and a one-page business summary cover the majority of grant application requirements. Having them ready eliminates the #1 reason entrepreneurs miss deadlines.
Certifications
Apply for at least one business certification
MBE, WBE, SMBE, and state-level certifications unlock dedicated grant pools and set-aside contracts. Many applications are free and take under an hour. Ask Capital OS which certifications you qualify for first.
Funding Pipeline
Start your Funding Sprint and add opportunities
The Funding Pipeline dimension only moves when you take action. Start your 5-stage Funding Sprint inside Capital OS, identify 3–5 matching grants, and mark at least one as started. Pipeline activity is the clearest signal of capital commitment.
